5 steps to save the country by Pura Vida

Step 1- We give billions every year to countries that owe us money from wwII,  Thats just assinine when we cant afford our own social security

Step 2-

There should be a flat sales tax to replace the income tax for people who make less than a million dollars a year.

Right now there are millions in this country that do not pay income taxes but make income.  Bartenders, waiters, DJs, strippers, illegals, laborers, drug dealers, etc. all make some serious coin and do not pay income taxes.  On top of it, many qualify for the earned income credit and get back 3-5 thousand a year.  Millions of people get more money back from the IRS than they pay in.

We have a huge frickin deficit.  How are we ever going to pay it down if a good chunk of the population isnt paying their share.  A flat sales tax would make everyone pay and pay a proportionate amount to their income.

Step 3- Legalize and tax prostitution and marijuana.

Illegal prostitution is just stupid! How can it be illegal to sell something that is perfectly legal to give away????????????  Everything bad about prostitution is bad becuase it is illegal.  Legal prostitution is safe for the worker and the client.  Plus, the tax revenue could save this country from the depression that is looming.

Marijuana is better for you than booze and its a lot safer to smoke and drive!  Millions smoke it every day yet we dont get any tax benefit?  We need every dollar we can get!  Legalize it and tax it!

Seriously

I always thought before fixing other countries problems, we need to fix our own first. Not to be selfish, but in order to stabilize the well being of others, we need to be stable.  Instead of the "Land Of Opportunity" it should be called the "Land That Gives Others Opportunity".  Have you noticed the prices at the grocery store lately? Ridiculous!!! Price of oil? Ridiculous!

Seriously

One spot says we should stop giving money to countries that owe us, another says we should stop giving money to countries that WE owe.  Are you proposing that we just stop giving money whether we owe people or not, period?  Cool.  :)

I find it interesting that one of the debate issues prior to GWB being elected was how to spend our gargantuan federal surplus ... now look at us.  Disgusting.

Nice to see you, sir.  I look forward to your other four steps.

Seriously

I think we do a damn  fine job of taking care of our own.Does anyone have any idea how large SRS has grown. Affirmative action is so popular I'm afraid to want more. The countries we give money to are by an large an extension of our welfare programs. The only people complaining are working Americans...Damn those people!!! I can't believe this is a conversation.

Seriously

http://www.census.gov/compendia/statab/tables/08s1271.pdf

according to the above link, the USA has given ovger 120 billion in economic and military aid between 2000 and 2005.  I couldnt find data for 2006 and 2007.  120 billion could help when it comes to paying Americans the socialsecurity benefits they were promised.  Would this solve all of our problems?  No, but rememebr, it is just step 1.

Seriously

Following WWII , U.S. Foreign Policy has generally  aimed at avoiding another World War. Because of the 10's of millions killed during WWII  the government has decided  it is worth money and  American lifes to perform as the World's policeman in order to prevent WWIII. As a result , the U.S. will not allow a coalition of hostile dictatorships. That's why today, our forces are are smack dab in the middle of the Arab World!! Foreign Aid buys friendships and support , it is part of the policy.
